To pass the time on my regular jogging route, I count the weddings and critique the bridesmaid’s dresses. I’m lucky that I can run through a very scenic part of Sydney, and on the weekend, I’m guaranteed at least one wedding to gawk at.
This afternoon was a bit different. Only two weddings – one Jewish and one Muslim. The Jewish wedding had a black theme (except for the bride of course) with black ties and yarmulkes for the groom’s party, and very stylish black cocktail dresses for the bridesmaids. The bride at the Muslim wedding had a beautiful white dress with matching hijab, and two of her four bridesmaids had delicately embroidered silk scarves covering their hair, matching the highlight colours in their bridesmaids dresses.
As an atheist myself, it seemed a nice way to celebrate Easter – watching our multicultural Sydney in action.
